Super Junior‘s Ryeowook displayed his singing talent for June 16th broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s‘Immortal Song 2′. The contestants on this episode paid tribute to Yang Hee Eun, the godmother of Korean female folk music.
Following behind the footsteps of fellow Super Junior members Yesung and Kyuhyun, who have previously performed on KBS‘s ‘Immortal Song: Legendary Folktale Songs’, Ryeowook sang a cover of Yang Hee Eun‘s “White Magnolia” for the popular show.
Before performing, Ryeowook calmly explained to the audience, “[Because] I personally like Yang Hee Eun sunbae-nim’s song, I will deliver my own version of it.“ He proceeded to then display a singing ability that seemed more remarkable than what he has shown through previous idol activities. The audience members as well as fellow singers listening in the waiting room were reported to be shocked with his great performance.
Additionally, singer Younha who is set to release her fourth album ‘SUPERSONIC‘ on June 28th also made a special guest appearance on the show. She performed “Follow Your Dreams” while also playing the guitar.
Hong Kyung Min won on this episode with 390 votes compared to Sonya’s 386.

Super Junior‘s Ryeowook and INFINITE‘s Sunggyu have announced that they’ll be joining KBS‘s ‘Immortal Song 2‘ as fixed members!
The two will be starting with the June 4th episode featuring a special on Yang Hee Eun. Ryeowook in particular is known for his sweet voice as well as vast experience in musicals and radio DJing. Sunggyu himself is the team’s leader and main vocalist. He is one of the few idol members that can be proud of his outstanding vocal talent.
As they are both part of groups at the forefront of the Hallyu wave, fans are excited and looking forward to how well they’ll fare every week on the show.
Their first stage will broadcast on June 16th.

Super Junior leader Leeteuk has been receiving flak from some netizens after delivering the final speech at MBC‘s ‘Korean Music Wave in Google‘ concert recently held in California.
On May 21st, Google and YouTube hosted MBC ‘Korean Music Wave in Google‘ in Mountain View, California and the concert was streamed live through YouTube.
Towards the end of the concert, all the artists came on stage together to sing the customary traditional Korean song, “Arirang“. When the song came to a close, Leeteuk grabbed his microphone and closed the event saying, “Our languages and our faces may be different, but the music has united us as one.” But netizens began criticizing Leeteuk for delivering the closing speech, as Girls’ Generation‘sTaeyeon and Tiffany were the MCs for the event. They felt Leeteuk hindered Tiffany from giving the final speech, and staff members from the event who heard about the misunderstanding stepped forward to defend Leeteuk’s actions.
A representative from MBC who was at the event remarked, “The misunderstanding had spread amongst netizens, because they did not completely understand the situation at hand. The head director had specially asked Leeteuk to deliver the closing speech, as he is exceptionally talented and experienced when it comes to leading such events. The director had simply wanted to neatly and efficiently end the large-scale show.”
“It makes no sense to say that he had interrupted Tiffany from making her speech,” the representative continued. “The fact that Leeteuk stepped on stage with a mic already in hand proves that everything was pre-meditated.”
Leeteuk also attempted to relieve any misunderstandings by writing on his Twitter page, “Towards the end of “Arirang”, a cue card went up asking me to deliver the closing comment. If it was wrong of me to respond to the producer’s cue and deliver a speech during a show that was streamed live all over the world, then I apologize. I will respectfully reject any gifts of criticism that are given without reason.”
Meanwhile, some of today’s top artists performed at the concert, including TVXQ, Super Junior,Wonder Girls, Girls’ Generation, KARA, B2ST, MBLAQ, SISTAR, f(x), and more.

K-pop singers will perform live to the world through global portal site Google.
On May 3, according to several concert officials, SNSD, TVXQ, Super Junior, and KARA will hold a concert, conducted by MBC, at Google Headquarters in San Jose, California, United States, on May 21 at 6:00 in the afternoon (local time).
This is the first time a K-pop star has held a concert at Google Headquarters. This proves that K-pop has risen up on the world stage. The concert will air on the MBC and Google channels.
Singers from SM Entertainment will hold the ‘SM Town Live’ at Honda Center in California, United States, on May 20, a day before the MBC concert.

On December 29th, fans were disappointed to discover that SM Entertainment had not informed fans prior to the pre-recording for the ‘2011 SBS Gayo Daejun‘, leaving Super Junior without a crowd support in the audience of such a prestigious event.
The members immediately took to their Twitters to apologize for the incident and also let out a bit of steam over the mishandling of the event.
Leader Leeteuk expressed, “This isn’t right… They should’ve put up notices beforehand, no? I’ll apologize on behalf of them~” Donghae also quickly apologized, “Sorry, ELF…”
Eunhyuk frustratingly tweeted, “This year-end doesn’t mean anything without our ELF… so frustrated!!!!!! Eat food, eat food twice.” The sentiment was retweeted by Leeteuk, Donghae, andSiwon, who added, “Eat thrice~^^ kekeke,” and “Keep eating.”
Siwon wrote in English, “Any way.. you look at it, there isn’t a group more hard-working than us, and there can’t be a group more pitiful than us..damn it! if we’ve done anything wrong, it must be the crime of working too hard, don’t you agree everyone? well just forget it.. what a long day..”

Super Junior‘s Donghae and Eunhyuk held their debut stage on ‘Music Bank‘ today for their duet song “Oppa Has Arrived“, and they received some support from fellow groupmate, Siwon!
For a few hours, Siwon became an ELF screaming loudly for his ‘oppas’ from the crowd. He took a picture with Super Junior’s fans in the audience, and tweeted, “Donghae and Eunhyuk are pre-recording! Today I am also an ELF ^^! Everyone, Oppa Has Arrived~^^!”
