On April 30, the showcase for SM’s upcoming movie, I AM was held at Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo’s CGV Starium. During the event, a Q&A time was held with the SM artists.

One of the questions asked of the SM artists in attendance was whether they regretted becoming an SM trainee in the past.

The SM artists in attendance were given a placard with either an ‘O’ or an ‘X’ to indicate their yes or no response. Among those there, Kangta, TVXQ’s Max Changmin, Super Junior’s Sungmin, Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, SHINee’s Taemin and f(x)’s Sulli and Krystal all held up an ‘O’.

Kangta began by explaining, “When I was a trainee, there wasn’t anything we were able to eat beyond jjajangmyun(black bean noodles). [My then fellow member] Tony An once ordered stir-fried noodle rice and he was in trouble for two days. Back then I regretted [becoming a trainee,] but not now.”

Sungmin went on to say, “[When I was a trainee] our lunch was one roll of kimbap,” to which Kangta responded, “We only were able to order from a Chinese restaurant every two days and we filled the rest of our hunger with sausage snacks.”

Sulli also reflected on her past hardships as a trainee saying, “I lived in the dorms from my fifth year of elementary school. I [often] wanted to go home and wanted to see my mother. Since my home was in Busan, I wasn’t able to go down often and see them so I was upset.”

Hyoyeon said, “From a young age I always had to travel back-and-forth between my house and our office. The entire roundtrip each time took three hours and that wasn’t easy. I regretted it back then since I wanted to play with my friends.”

SM’s I AM will premiere on May 10.

K-POP proves its high popularity through its significant achievement from SNS channels.

On January 20, SM Entertainment announced that according to the Socialbakers, the U.S. social media analytics, SM Town turned out to have the highest number of ‘LIKE’ fans among Asian music labels, and the second highest in the world.

Since launched in June Last year, Facebook SM Town attracted more than 1million ‘LIKE’ fans from across the world in just seven months.

When all the ‘LIKE’ fans are added up of SM’s singers and actors such as BoA, TVXQ, The Grace Dana & Sunday, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), EXO-K, EXO-M, Go A Ra and Lee Hyun Hee, the number amazingly exceeds 10 million.

Through Facebook SM Town, we can see a variety of news and photos about SM’s singers and actors including their albums, concerts, detailed schedules and the highlight video images of SM Town Live World Tour.

Donghae and Eunhyuk from Super Junior will release digital single ‘Oppa, Oppa’ and change into ‘Retro Boy.’

The digital single, ‘Oppa, Oppa,’ will contain a total of two songs including ‘Oppa, Oppa’ and Donghae’s solo music, ‘First Love,’ so it is expected to receive an enthusiastic response from music fans.

The title song ‘Oppa, Oppa’ is a dance music featuring witty lyrics with lively rhythm and beat in a retro dance atmosphere and the popularity of Super Junior, who has turned into a global Korean wave star, is expressed in the lyrics in a witty way.

Moreover, Donghae’s solo ballad ‘First Love’ is written by Donghae and is a prelude of ‘Oppa, Oppa.’ Since its soft and quiet piano string is in harmony with simple melody, it gives different atmosphere from ‘Oppa, Oppa.’

Especially, after the news that Donghae and Eunhyuk will release a digital single, search words related to ‘Oppa, Oppa,’ ‘Donghae,’ ‘Eunhyuk,’ etc. were in the high ranks of various portal websites. And also, since Super Junior has been performing through “SUPER JUNIOR WORLD TOUR ‘SUPER SHOW4’” by touring the world, it is predicted to draw the attention of global music fans.

Meanwhile, Donghae and Eunhyuk will perform ‘Oppa, Oppa’ on ‘KBS Music Bank’ on the 16th and ‘SBS Inkigayo’ on the 18th.

Global electronics company LG Electronics has chosen Super Junior and f(x) to be their new endorsement models!

On October 18th, LG representatives revealed their plans to produce a 3-D music video with Super Junior.  The music video will be released early next year through LG’s newly launched, free Hallyu content service program called ‘K-POP ZONE‘. ‘K-POP ZONE’ is a service inside the latest LG Cinema 3D Smart TVs, which provides hours of never-before-seen premium K-Pop content on demand.

In addition, LG Electronics will be supporting the upcoming ‘SM Town Concert‘ in New York City on the 23rd. LG is currently promoting the ‘SM Town Concert’ through a giant LED screen display in theTimes Square.  The advertisement for the event will flash 100 times a day on the screen alongside the ‘K-POP ZONE’ and LG icon. Considering that 1.5 million people walk through the area everyday, the promotion will definitely get a lot of exposure in New York.

Furthermore, Super Junior and f(x) will be endorsing a wide range of LG products for an entire year. The president of global marketing at LG Electronics shared, “With the help of leading celebrities of the Hallyu Wave, our brand awareness will go up and we believe they will do an excellent job as representatives for ‘K-POP ZONE’”.

In the past, actor Lee Min Ho and KARA were the brand models for LG. The two proved to be quite effective, as the ‘Hallyu Marketing Strategy’ increased the company’s brand awareness significantly.

After much speculation and a “confirmation” courtesy of Isak, details for SMTOWN NYC seem to be finalized as of today.

The concert’s date has been revealed to be October 23rd, and the venue is none other than the world-famous Madison Square Garden, whose capacity for the event is speculated to be around 10,000.

Meanwhile, the long delayed SMTOWN Tokyo encore concert is set to occur this weekend from September 2nd to 4th, with an estimated attendance figure of 150,000.
